Family Day!

Today was yet another gorgeous spring day in Southern California! A perfect day to live close to our favorite park... (and the mall!)

First we walked to the park. (Allison ran, using her new tennis shoes!)

From there, we walked to the mall for smoothies and pretzels for lunch. SO fun! We came home and relaxed a bit, then made Pad Thai for dinner, followed by "Prince Caspian" movie night complete with candy and popcorn. Couldn't ask for a better day! (I only took pictures of the park!)

Candy Kabobs!

Isn't this adorable? Our MOPS table leader blessed us with them this past Friday, and I was so impressed! She used shishkabob sticks, candy, and for wrappers she used the pretzel stick wrappers... Too clever! Wouldn't they be great for a kids' birthday? Thanks, P... You're the best!

Mrs. Flutterbee

Ok, friends... don't be scared off by my goofy picture! (I had a baby in one arm, and the camera in the other and this was the best I could do!) But, I have to share with you about Mrs. Flutterbee! I was so blessed to meet this sweet lady who has a heart for God, a knack with children, and an incredible talent for singing and writing children's books and songs. She brought me this fun hat, along with her book, cd, and dvd. (Too sweet and generous!) My girls wanted to jump into the book they liked it so much, and had a blast listening to her songs during rest time. Our whole family became instant Mrs. Flutterbee fans! Hello Kitty Party

SURPRISE! Allison and Natalie are always asking to throw surprise parties. Today was suppose to be a preschool about taking care of your teeth. We had lots of fun activities planned... but decided to surprise Mrs. Holland for her birthday, instead!

We had face painting, a ring toss game, card coloring, and cupcakes... but mostly, we just hung out with no plans!

Crepes!!

A few years back, my friend gave me a crepe pan and recipe book for my birthday. If you were to see them today, you would think they were ancient -- they have been well-loved. For the most part, we make sweet crepes for a special breakfast. Before having the girls, Daniel and I used to try several fun recipes for dinner. Well, now that the girls are a little older and a little braver, I decided to try crepes for dinner, once again.
I actually didn't use a recipe, but kept it simple...

1. a little mayo and mustard blended with salt and pepper
2. blanched asparagus
3. swiss cheese
4. turkey
   

Roll and top with parmesan, and bake until the cheese melts!

'This is a song the girls made up all by themselves. I thought it was quite catchy, and have to sing it back at them sometimes. It works!! Check out their debut of "Try It:"

Peas

Our pea plant is HUGE... gigantic... enormous! Just look at it! The best part is, it is loaded with yummy peas that BOTH my girls love to snack on. Afternoon munchies? Head outside... your snack is waiting!

Trig Time

Allison loves sewing.... and we've been in need of something creative to do... so, I decided to have her do the good old "straight lines become a curve" trick. I wasn't sure if she'd be able to do this, so I color coordinated the holes. (The best I could with their dried out markers!) That actually worked perfectly, and she was able to do this completely on her own. (And, it's nice to have independent activities now that Sierra is needing a little more attention). The hardest part?? Punching the holes. OUCH!

Dirty jobs

The Easter bunny thought it might be silly to give the girls a lot of candy this year, considering they still have a whole sleuth of Halloween chocolate! So, amongst the other toys, crafts, and puzzles were these gardening tools. Who needs a sandbox when you have dirt, old ketchup bottles filled with water, and some new gardening tools?

A spattering of Easter

As promised, here are our Easter pictures from our trip to San Mateo. We are almost recovered here; just need to put away the laundry! I'll go do that now and let you look over the pictures...

We're back!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter! Despite rain and sickness, we had a wonderful trip and a beautiful Easter! We got back around midnight last night, and spent today unpacking and planning for the days ahead! The girls were happy to see Eggella and all her hair, and decided to give her a haircut. Here she is:

Tomorrow morning we leave for San Mateo to be with my parents for Easter. "Eggella," (Allison's name for her), will stay back, watch the house, and continue to let her "hair" grow. I hope you have a wonderfully blessed Easter! He is risen indeed!!!

Goodbye Tiffany

This past year I have been blessed with a friend who is one of the most humble, gentle, precious spirits I have ever met. One year of friendship was not enough, but better than never having met her at all. I hate saying goodbye to a good friend... but I do enjoy the goodbye party! I will miss you terribly, Tiffany!
