Birthday Traditions...

Sorry to keep you waiting! So, I only have 219 pictures of Allison's birthday to sort through. (YIKES!!) Where do I begin? Warning: I may be blogging about her birthday for a while! I'll start with two big hits this year, that also happen to be traditions.

  1. Every year, (thanks to the Merrill clan) the girls start their birthday morning with a present under their bed. This year, to go along with her birthday theme, I gave Allison a special tea cup and saucer. I wasn't sure what she would think, but was pleasantly surprised at how excited she was. Even today she wants to drink everything out of her new tea cup.

2. I have always wanted to do a special birthday chair for the girls, and I really wanted to paint it myself. After having Natalie, I realized it would be silly to try to paint it myself with two little girls hanging on me; especially when I have an incredibly talented Mom, who loves to paint. Check out this chair:

More to come tomorrow...

Details...

We have PARTY on the brain!! Tomorrow our little Allison turns 4, and has requested a Princess Tea Party. (Girls only, of course!) I have collected ideas over the last several months. (Thank goodness she didn't change her mind!) And, last night we were busy getting started. Lots more to do today and tomorrow morning. I won't tell you much, but everything is "mini." Here are a few glimpses into our preparation. Of course, I can't wait to show pictures, recipes, and all the details after the party. For now, see what you can do with these:

Amy's Farm

What a special day we had! Our friend invited us to join her at Amy's farm. Only 15 miles away, and yet a whole world away! The tour was very educational, fun, and detailed! The girls had a blast! I tried to narrow down the pictures, but there are still quite a few!

Putting on the "Cow tags." (Just for fun!)

Walking the balance beam...

Farmer Randy and the 2,000 pound Tina. It was pretty amazing to see her up close!!

Petting some baby chickies

The sheep and goat "petting zoo." Natalie warned me not to let any deer eat her clothes. (See this entry). What a memory!

The girls got to tour the gardens, and smell all the different herbs.
Here they're getting the milk bottles ready for the kids. How exciting!
And, each kid got to feed their own calf. It was pretty cool! Definitely Allison's favorite part.

Petting the horses was fun, but Allison was really excited to pet Tina.
And, Natalie's favorite part: the picnic in the back of the car. (Sorry about the mess, Daniel! It got pretty nasty back there. Next time I'll bring a picnic blanket!!

This and That

What have the Yeh's been up to? First of all, I am LOVING our "June gloom" weather. I can't get enough of these overcast mornings and sunny days! Sunday we went with some friends to the Angel's game, and enjoyed not only a phenomenal game, but a great day with friends and no kids! Our sweet friends who babysat the whole day also brought us the beautiful flowers pictured above. They are in the same glass as my smoothie... a recycled peach jar from Trader Joe's.
Speaking of peaches, we have also been enjoying the summer fruit that's been on sale at Henry's. I think I ate 5 peaches yesterday. (The first of the season, and I just love fruit when I'm pregnant!) We've also had quite a few enormous strawberries. I don't get to eat many, as they are Allison's favorite. But, we've had so many lately that she's actualy willing to share!
And, of course, our bubble wands... We just got new ones from the dollar store, and have gone through a huge thing of bubbles in the last 3 days. They literally spend over an hour each morning playing, and playing, and playing. I suppose it is nicer than blowing. Not only do you get bigger bubbles, but you don't get light-headed! (Side-note: Allison has been dressing herself. Mom did NOT pick out this outfit!)
