Discovery Center

Our dear friends have passes to the Discovery Center in Orange County, and invited us to tag-along on Wednesday. The girls were so excited to be together, they danced around out front before going in!

It took Sierra a little while to warm-up... but once she began having fun and realized mommy and daddy wee not going anywhere, she cheered up!

Snuggles... awww! :)

Lunch break:

After lunch, we headed outside... the bubble exhibit was going on, and there was lots of fun to be had!

Sierra especially enjoyed smearing bubbles in her face! :)

Our last stop was upstairs. There were a lot of fun sport activities including "volleyball" (in front of the green screen), baseball, and hockey.

Thanks for a great time, friends!!

Veggie Week

I've really enjoyed our theme units this year, as they always seem to inspire us at just the right time. This week just happens to be "V is for Vegetable" week, and with the spring weather we just couldn't help but get our garden going!

Daniel took the girls to Lowes with him, which meant they got new gardening gloves in addition to all the seeds we bought. It's always good to go with Daddy! :)

Daniel did most of the weeding himself, and after a few hours of the tough stuff he invited the girls over for the fun part. We can't wait to show you all the goodies!

Little Chickies

I found this cute idea on Be Different Act Normal... somebody posted it for the Show and Tell Saturday, and we had fun trying it out...

First, the girls drew a picture of some chickies using pastels.

Next, they used water colors to color them in. Unfortunately, Sierra did not allow me to really supervise, and the girls were quite content doing it on their own. So...

Some of the colors blended, but they still turned out cute. We'll have to try this project, again!

Dinner Al Fresco

Tonight we had Chinese Chicken Salad for dinner. (Salad dressing recipe given below!) As I was grilling the chicken, I kept thinking, "What a perfect evening!" Just before I called everyone to eat, it occurred to me... this would be a perfect night to eat outside!

Of course, that made dinner all the more exciting!

And, with the promise of a special dessert to come, even Natalie and Sierra ate their salad! (Well... Natalie did. Sierra had a few bites of chicken, one pepper, and called it quits!)

I had to throw in this picture of our apricots. Unfortunately, we hardly have any compared with last year. But, at least we have some!

I'll let you guess what the special dessert was. :)

Little turkey couldn't resist sharing with her best buddy.

Hard to believe rain is coming... but I have no doubt there are more beautiful evenings in the near future!
Here is the recipe for the dressing I like to use:
Asian vinagrette:
1/2 cup sesame oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup rice wine vinegar
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons peanut butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds

T-ball

We had our first t-ball practice Thursday night! The girls are on the Tigers! They are the only girls on the team.

They were very excited, but also very tired. Good ol' mom forgot to bring their gloves... oops!

It was a gorgeous night after a hot, 90-degree March day. Sierra and I had fun on our picnic blanket, and trompsing around on the playground.

It's going to be a great season. Let's play ball!
