More Homeschool Fun
As promised, here are a few of our homeschool activities from this past week. This first one was pretty simple, and totally impromptu. The girls picked an object, rolled a die, and drew the numeral and the object that number of times.
Now is a great time to head to Target for school stuff... at least it was a few days ago. They are clearing out their dollar section stuff to make room for Halloween, and have lots of educational items on sale. I picked up this science experiment book for 70 cents! This was the classic "volcanic" reaction of baking soda and vinegar, only used to blow-up a balloon. Pretty cool!
We just finished our unit on the moon, but on the first day we practiced our letter writing on "moon sand." I was so happy to finally have a use for the giant pixie sticks we had at Natalie's last birthday! I thought the girls would LOVE to lick their fingers, but Allison decided it was too sour, so Natalie wouldn't even try it. And, I discovered that I actually liked it!
Finally, we've been using our upper and lower-case letters to play both "Go-fish," and "Memory." The girls prefer "Go-fish." It's definitely helpful for Natalie, but just plain fun for Allison.
